Planning a wedding can sometimes be quite stressful, who do you invite, who don’t you? So over the past years I’ve seen more and more small weddings, couples opting on having a beautiful intimate wedding with just their immediate family. That’s something Olivia and Jonathan wanted for their wedding, a small ceremony and a lunch with everyone that attended.
As the wedding day came along it brought sunshine and warmth with it. I met the wedding couple as I arrived to document their ceremony at Engelbrekt Church in Östermalm. After the ceremony guests toasted the newly weds with champagne and juice, we took a group picture in the church’s private rose-garden before I drove the couple to Djurgården for the portrait photography.
Olivia had described her and Jonathans outfits before the big day, so I chose one of my favourite places for the photoshoot, a romantic setting with a little castle and garden with a big porcelain pot.
When I photograph a couple, I want to capture them, not orchestrate a picture that doesn’t represent them, I want it to capture their relationship and their personalities. After meeting Olivia and Jonathan I noticed that they’re a quite playful and fun couple, so I had them stand infront of the small castle and throw Olivias bouquet back and fort. And this obviously caught turist’s attention and they started to watch our little photoshoot, this is something you get used to as a photographer in Stockholm.
After we had taken all the portraits we got back into the car and headed down to the two Michelin stared restaurant Oaxen Krog where the couple where having a gourmet lunch with their guests. While at the restaurant I took photos of the family and the reception. While I was there I noticed a boat that was tied up down by the dock. I got the couple to come down to the dock and we took some more photos, I even had them take a Titanic picture.
As I finished my mission I said my goodbyes and then drove up to my cabin located at the coast of Hälsingland where I’m now recharging for new weddings this fall. Looking forward to see what kind off weddings will be up next!
