Oksana & Jonathan, known from Let’s Dance, got married on Curacao in the Caribbean Islands. They flew me in to capture their love. On my flight, I set the intention to work with warmth and passion, I wanted to come home with film rolls full of love and art.
The wedding was held on the beach with witnesses from the hotel and a female priest with authority and character. Hot sand and soft winds, so lovely. I found samba hats in the wedding planner’s trunk that we played with for a while until we climbed up on a roof that I had found the day before. From there, there was a view for miles, just the pictures I had expected. The bride and groom enjoyed an intimate dinner at the hotel’s private beach, where I without their knowledge stood in the dark and got some of the best photos of the trip.
At dawn the next day, before the hotel guests woke up, I placed the bride and groom in the pool and that’s where my photo “Ghost” that you can see in my exhibition came from.
