I received an email 13 Dec 2023: “Hello Kicki, Me (Olof) and Elin are getting married at Rånäs castle next year and are looking for a photographer. We were recommended to you by Pernilla, who works there and likes your photos.”
So began a fun assignment. I was resting in my cabin at the outermost sea of the Hälsinge coast when Olof’s father called to tell me that he had booked a Rolls Royce to drive the couple between the castle and the church. perfect I thought if it’s a rainy wedding (which it was). Checking in at the castle the night before and started photography after breakfast, shooting some portraits before we are picked up by a beautiful Rolls Royce. The wedding is atmospheric and intimate with Elin’s cousin who is a priest and the friends sing beautifully. I am the couple’s “en route paparazzi” and ask the driver Lasse (whom I know after all these years) to park a few minutes with the castle as a background, a few quick photos and the party can begin.
Mail from the bride and groom: “Hi Kicki, Thanks for the nice pictures, but we probably forgot to select some. It also feels very difficult when there are so many lovely and so little time here with us”.
